Welcome to Central Melbourne Gastroenterology

Central Melbourne Gastroenterology (CMG) is a specialist gastroenterological practice that aims to provide the best possible care for patients with gut problems. Established in 2008, we are located at 55 Victoria Parade, Fitzroy, between St Vincent's Private and Public Hospitals.

At Central Melbourne Gastroenterology we offer expertise and care for the full range of gastrointestinal problems. Our gastroenterologists, Professor Michael Kamm, Dr Zina Valaydon, Dr Chamara Basnayake and Dr Michael MacIsaac, have many years of experience and are at the forefront of national and international practice. They have a very practical approach to treating patients with all aspects of gut disorders. In addition to practising at CMG they also practise at St Vincent’s Private and Public hospitals. This ensures that they maintain a leading position in terms of knowledge and expertise, and have the full support of excellent hospital facilities. Professor Kamm is involved in medical research into gut disorders and specialist training.

We manage all aspects of luminal gastroenterology and hepatology. We offer expert care in inflammatory bowel diseases, coeliac disease, oesophageal and gastric disorders and functional gut disorders. We treat viral hepatitis, alcohol-related liver disease as well as metabolic, autoimmune and cholestatic liver disorders. We also offer the complete range of standard and specialised endoscopic investigations and treatments.

We focus on the patient as a whole person. In addition to treating gut problems using traditional therapies, at CMG both the physical and psychological aspects of treating patients with gut and pelvic floor disorders are important to us. Hence, within the same practice, skilled specialists work together in an integrated way to provide best care. Our gastroenterologists work alongside, and can call on, our gut-focused psychiatrist, Dr Ola Krupinska, our gut and pelvic floor behavioural therapists and physiotherapists, Ms Angela Khera, Ms Isabella Lees-Trinca and Ms Annabelle Citroen, and our accredited practising dietitian, Ms Erin Russell. This range of available care is unique in gastroenterological practice.
